Greetings from Mexico City. We wanted to write with a brief update and to share some prayer requests for this challenging time.

The situation here in Mexico is difficult. We are beginning to see the effects of COVID-19 on the Urban Mosaic staff. Last week one of our team members lost her father to the virus and this week our Mexico country director, Oscar Garcia, was hospitalized with severe pneumonia which was later confirmed to be COVID 19. He is currently intubated and on a ventilator.

Oscar has always been a fighter – a strong advocate for those in need. Now, we need to fight for him. Please go to God in prayer, crying out for his health and recovery.

And, please pray for our team here as our hearts are heavy as we see the devastating affect the virus is already having on the communities where we serve.

Please pray for:

-Oscar Garcia, Mexico’s Executive Director, as he battles COVID-19

-Families living in vulnerable situations – for their financial needs and their health

-Protection and wisdom for Urban Mosaic’s staff team as we seek to serve our communities

-Mexico’s health care system which is already overwhelmed battling the pandemic

We are currently: offering food to families in greatest need, installing hand washing stations, coordinating emotional support groups, and providing PPE to local hospitals and health clinics.
Want to help? You can. Support the Urban Mosaic team and the vulnerable families we serve by donating here to the COVID-19 Relief Fund.

The cost for Oscar’s hospitalization is high. If you would like to help, please send an email to Emily Tamanaha at for details.
Grateful, as always, for your prayers and partnership,
-Jean Luc and the Urban Mosaic team
