We are close to meeting the goal by October 23rd to
Set the Table for 400+ leaders and their families!
COVID-19 has endangered the lives of millions who don’t have access to life-saving health services.
The difficult, but necessary, measures to contain the pandemic have crippled the economy resulting in a massive loss of jobs and devastated families already living under precarious conditions
What started as a public health crisis has quickly become a growing food crisis.
We are seeking $20K by October 23rd to match a challenge grant and provide sustainable food sources for 400+ leaders!
HOW WILL WE SET THE TABLE?
The Set the Table food security initiative will begin by providing:
–Laying hens for 200 leaders and their families
–Rabbits for 75 leaders and their families
–Small vegetable gardens for 150 leaders and their families
With the help of local experts, we will also be cultivating 2 community vegetable gardens, a fish farm, and 2 chicken farms that combined, will produce over 20,000 eggs per month!
All families participating in the project commit to six months of training and accompaniment. They attend workshops on how to care for and feed their animals properly, as well as how to diagnose and treat common sicknesses that may affect their animals. Towards the end of the workshop series, families are taught how to humanely slaughter, harvest and then commercialize their livestock and start small businesses.
It's been life-giving to be able to raise chickens again.
Gardening not only helps me provide healthy food for my family. But it's been so therapeutic during the pandemic and such uncertain times.
In about 12 days both of my rabbits with have babies. We are so excited.
